IX Golegã Mare Fair
The eleventh Golegã Mare Fair (IX EXPOÉGUA) will be held at Golegã, Portugal, between the 8th and 10th of May. Golegã, an historic village close to the river Tagus, is known to host every year in November the Golegã Horse Fair (Feira Nacional do Cavalo) which is the main Fair for horses in Portugal. Since eleven years ago, every year in May, Golegã has been hosting a Fair dedicated to the Mare. This Fair has become already a visiting point for all those interested in horse breeding in Portugal.
The main competitions of this Fair have as focus mares and fillies. There are competitions for ridden mares with 4 years old and mares with foals. Equally, there are competitions for fillies from 1 to 3 years. In addition since last edition (X EXPOÉGUA) there is a competition for colts with 1 and 2 years that will be happening again this year.
There will be happening as well several equestrian activities and competitions including Working Equitation and a congress about the horse research in Portugal, from the past to the future “A Investigação equina em Portugal – Presente e Futuro”.
